Superbowl

Well it turned out a bit better than I thought. I didn't think the Eagles would have enough to even make it interesting, but they tried. Philly was just too slow getting set pretty much the whole 4th quarter and McNabb made a few poor throwing decisions. Oh well, "real" football starts again in August as NCAA teams start fall practice. Until then, College BBall will hold me over as much as it can. April-July have no hope!

I was pretty disappointed with the ads this year. They weren't bad, but very, very few were above average. Nothing was over the top, nothing made me laugh hysterically. I think its partly because half of the ads were for cars or movies.

On another note, my knee is still being a huge pain. To bring everyone up to speed - I started running a little over a year ago. I'd usually do 2-3 miles 4 to 5 times a week, no problem. This summer, my knee gave out on me one day during a run. Ever since, i can only run about 1 mile before my knee says no more. Anyway, some runners I know suggested that I get some really good shoes to help out. I did that, with the hope of running a 10K later this year. Well, this weekend I gave it another try - but to no avail. I'm beinning to think that it might be something physically wrong. I'm going to get a compression brace and try that. If that doesn't work - I'm heading to the doctor.

  • Dave had the same problem, he called Big Steve and from what I learned from the conversation was that a sharp pain is a very bad thing. I also learned that you shouldn't run on concrete but I'm not sure where you're running so that may or may not have an affect. Call biggie, maybe he can help.

  • Yes, typically anytime you experience a sharp pain it's not good. One of the perks to going to school with medical students and working with doctors, you get some free medical advice. However, one of our med students told me that I was just getting old and that I should just pack it in. After all, we all don't get to do want we want to do. So, after my trial run tomorrow (I hope) with the brace and a bit of aspirin in my system, we'll see if it really is a cartiledge problem.

  • If there's any popping or pulling in your knee, glucosamine can help. I started taking it about a year ago because I couldn't unbend my knee from a bent position without assistance from my arms. It got so bad that I would wake up from the pain when I rolled over in bed at night. I take it every day and have had minimal problems now. A compression brace helps too, but it can start to get uncomfortable after a while.
