Where Have All The Bloggers Gone?

Ok, so when I say "all the bloggers" I really mean just me. It's been a few weeks since I've posted last and I hope I can make up for it in the next month or so. I've been pretty busy in the past two weeks, so to recap for you:

ACHE Congress in Chicago, IL
I spent the last week in March in Chi-town for ACHE's annual Congress on Healthcare Leadership. This conference attracts healthcare executives from all over the country along with a large group of students like myself. Congress this year was ok - I had a lot of fun networking with my peers and meeting new people, but the special "student" sessions we were forced to attend left much to be desired in my opinion. Being less than two months to my residency, I'm ready for some solid educational sessions that are going to really help me in my job. Many of the student lessons were "what to expect" and "how to get a job." They just didn't relate to us. But it wasn't that much of a problem because Chicago is a fun town. It wasn't nearly as frigid as it was last year, so being out and about with friends was great. Besides, it is hard to beat Chicago food! Next year, Congress moves to New Orleans, LA. Stayed tuned!

Ukrop's Monument Avenue 10K
I came back from Chicago and ran in my 2nd Ukrop's Monument Ave 10K. I did beat my time from last year by over two minutes, but I wasn't able to come in under my time goal of 55 minutes (I ran 55:41). Even though I missed my goal, I had a great time. This particular race is a great course and the fans that lined the entire race course were awesome. I especially appreciated those neighbors who had brought out their garden hoses to offer runners a quick cool down. Quite a few of my friends also ran in the race and I had two classmates finish in the top 75 (out of 20,100). In addition, Jenna and Barbara Bush participated in the race, which is a nice sidebar. Next year, I'm going to actually train for the race - I want a sub 50-minute race!

Family Day 2006
The past week was quite a stressful week. I'm getting ready for a very large project at work that took up quite a bit of my time this week. In addition to all that, I was in charge of planning the annual Family Day for my school. Family Day, which was held today, is a day that we invite all of our students and their families to come to the building where we go to class and they get to see what we do day in and day out. I have to say that today was a great success and the team that I worked with pulled off quite an event that has raised the bar for the next year's committee.

This coming week should be much less stressful. It's hard to believe that April is already almost half over. Time is just flying by! Anyway, we have some birthdays coming up this week, so before I forget: Happy Bday Sara and Lindsay!
